The Client calls for refurbishment of the entrance lobby of an office tower in Central to make it visible to the pedestrians. The existing entrance is located on a pedestrianized lane connecting Des Voeux Road and Connaught Road.  However it is visually blocked by a MTR exit structure.

To cope with the situation the entrance “shopfront”  extends upwards to form a “signboard” which allows to be projected from the external wall. Each cladding panel is turned at an angle to address the pedestrians from Connaught Road.

The overlapping plane ideas extend to the interior wall and ceiling, leading users to the lift lobby. In turn the reception counter extends outside the enclosure glass to integrate the smoke vent of basement.
